Konko Gakuen High School student introduces Bitchu-Kagura in Australia

Seventeen-year-old Nozomu Yamada, a student of Konko Gakuen High School* played the Bitchu-Kagura, (the sacred music and dance performed during festive events at Japanese shrines) at the Rain Forest Station in Kuranda of Cairns during a school excursion.
Mr. Yamada had proposed this plan based on his desire to show the art of his native home district to the Australian people. The result was the realization of a cultural exchange between the Bitchu- Kagura and the Aborigines' dance. ...

Massive Earthquake and Tsunami Hit Japan

On March 11 at 2:46pm JST a massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake occurred near the northeastern coast of Japan, creating extremely destructive tsunami waves which hit Japan just minutes after the earthquake.

Updated English Prayer Book Now Available !

The original English Prayer Book was first published in 1989, but many Japanese prayers were translated and added over the past two decades. Lately, there were discussions about the sentiment of the prayers being lost in translation as well as the number of loose inserts put into the book.
In response to these concerns, a committee was formed in 2007 to revise and update the English Prayer Book and now their task is complete.

Page-a-Day Calendar Printed in English, French, and German

An A5 sized desktop calendar with daily teachings was recently produced in commemoration of the Pan- Europe Konkokyo Conference in London on February 14 and 15. There are English, French, or German versions, and they have a different teaching from Konko Daijin printed on each page, along with the original Japanese underneath. We hope this calendar brings much happiness to your daily life.
